Blade of the Immortal (Series 2020)

I caught the Miike movie some time back and it was a great ride. I didn't know about the series when I saw the movie so it was all new to me. For this anime, I directly take that movie as an input to shape what I think of the series. The hype of that movie into this series was real and the series starts off well. It's violent and gross, but that's the subject matter. But the episode structure is weird. It feels like each episode our duo is just someplace new with somebody new. It all feels temporary like, why do we care as things are going to go bad. Mix that with a female lead that is all revenge, then doesn't want to kill, over and over and there's confusion over what's going on. Immortal man is just as you'd expect from this series. It's got edo period violence so buckle up! I made it through the end by watching this in the background while doing errands and chores.

Verdict: Starts of strong then in the middle I felt like I was the star of Memento. Throw it on in the background and catch some intense scenes.
